What's on your door?
Today in my salon, I had a cute conversation with my mother in law (who is also a favorite client.) She amusingly commented about how much she Hates Wreaths! She told me that in her apartment complex, "crazy people are hanging Gaudy wreaths on their doors for every damn occasion!" She wants NO PART in their Shenanigans! As she drives by all the scores of doors, the crazy variety of wreaths agitates her! haha
Heart Wreaths followed by spring time bouquet wreaths, Summer inspired wreaths, autumn leaf wreaths and of course..The proverbial Christmas wreaths!
I began to realize that some homes I've passed who apparently are 'door fanatics', are even wreath changing for the 4th of july, St Patricks day, halloween, Thanksgiving. Next it will be presidents damn day! I thought her zealous opinion was so cute and so very funny! It made me curious to know if this wreath thing is reaching epidemic proportions! I, myself am guilty... I change my door decoration for many of the major holidays. I have a Large yellow chick I put up for Easter, A Tin santa wreath for Christmas, and a scarecrow with colorful leaves for fall. The rest of the year it's a 1/2 circle of silk blue flowers! Right now I don't have a Valentines wreath, but I do have heart stickers on my storm door. Am I a door fanatic? Oh no, I may be!
So I am going to ask my blog visitors... What's on your door..... year round?? Be honest now, Don't keep your wreath obsession in the 'closet'! Are we getting a little carried away? Or Is this just another attempt at making our homes more inviting? Let me hear from you!

Two subdivisions ago (about 10+ years ago) we lived in an area that was wreath crazy. I know what your MIL means about how distracting/annoying it can be to drive down a street and only see the wreaths. At that time I participated in decorating our door some of the time-- Christmas, spring and fall.
HOWEVER, in this subdivision there are very few "wreath nuts" and to put one out looks kind of wonky here. SO, in answer to your question [finally, you're thinking] all we have on our front door 11 months of the year is a hanger for a wreath which is what the laundry guy uses to pick-up and bring-back my husband's shirts. During December I do put out a Christmas wreath.
My, aren't a babbly one this morning... :-)
This craze has not reached our shores yet - except for Christmas that is. I like to think of them as garlands, wreath sounds somewhat funerial to me! To answer your question though, I have nothing more than a knocker on my door!
i have no wreath, nope ... though i sometimes hang funky wooden art pieces and strands of crystal next to my door.
Hmmm. I have neighbors like that who decorate for every darn holiday! Drives my husband crazy. He doesn't like to decorate for anything. I practically have to beg him to put stuff up for Christmas. Right now, I don't have anything on my door, but if it's not Christmas, I sometimes have a sunflower wreath out there that I made myself. It's looking a little worn lately.
Nope, nothing on my door. We have one of those weird houses that don't have a proper front door (there are two possibilities and no-one seems to know which one to choose) so most people enter our home through the garage (horrors) - you can't exactly put up a wreath on a garage door (!!) so I don't bother with a wreath, even at Christmas.
I have a welcome wreath and a Christmas wreath. I think they are inviting. ;) XXOO
Christmas wreath with fancy magenta ribbon and a few other things. All year long a wood heart painted with peace on one side and purple palace on the other. Very small and discrete. Thats about it! Don't mind wreaths though. Cute post.
Hugs Sherrie
eh...bare, naked door with a knocker! Not into many decorations...esp, not doors :)
